AISB is a private and independent co-educational day school governed by a Board of Trustees elected and appointed from our parent community. The school was established in 1973 by the United States Embassy, initially to serve children of U.S. Government employees. AISB currently serves the needs of a rapidly expanding international population, including families of the local and expatriate business and diplomatic communities, as well as host-country nationals.
AISB offers an international curriculum, from Multiage 3 through Grade 12, informed by best teaching practices. At the high school level, we offer the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program.
Our student body is currently comprised of over 900 students representing more than 60 nationalities. We are committed to preserving this international character to foster a positive learning environment as well as develop lifelong learners and globally responsible citizens of tomorrow.

AISB operates three divisions on the 32-acre Nagykovácsi campus. We are close to the leafy residential suburbs of Budapest and within easy reach of central Budapest's beautiful business, commerce, and tourist districts.
Two buildings, linked by a bridge, unite our entire student body. The Elementary building houses students from Multiage 3 to Grade 5 while the Middle and High School building is home to Grades 6 through 12.
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the American International School of Budapest. The main responsibilities of the board are to assure that
The AISB Board of Trustees has 11 voting members, 3 elected school parents, 6 appointed members, the PSA Chair and a Representative from the US Embassy. The School Director and a Teacher Representative also sit on the Board as non-voting members. The US Ambassador is the Honorary Chair.
Our School Leadership and Faculty consist of highly qualified, passionate and experienced professionals committed to delivering an outstanding academic and social experience for AISB students in line with our Mission, Vision & Values.
Our School Director is appointed by the Board of Trustees and is supported by a strong team of Principals and Directors, each bearing operational responsibility for different areas of school life.
