7.0 COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC INFORMATION

The AISB School Board recognizes that intelligent, informed support of the school depends on knowledge and understanding of the school’s challenges, opportunities, and goals, and participation in the school’s programs.

The School Board affirms the importance of effective and productive internal and external communications. Communications should be a planned, systematic, two-way process between the school and its stakeholders, including parents, students, and school personnel, as well as with the larger expatriate and Hungarian communities.

The School Board, in cooperation with all School personnel, the Parent-School Association, and the student body, seeks opportunities for dialogue with AISB stakeholders and outside organizations about AISB’s philosophy of education, its educational and extra-curricular programs and goals, and its long-range vision.

To this end, the Board envisions a communications program that will:

• Focus attention on students, student learning activities, instruction, and student achievement;

• Increase the quality and quantity of stakeholder participation in school affairs, activities, plans and programs, recognizing that such involvement enhances students’ learning experiences and achievement;

• Encourage and enhance understanding, trust, and mutual support between the school and the communities it serves by providing accurate and timely information about policies, programs and issues;

• Maintain an open climate that inspires ideas and suggestions, and encourages the constructive and honest communication of concerns and ideas, thus enabling a collaborative process that leads to productive outcomes;

• Recognize that different cultures, languages, thought patterns, needs, assumptions and expectations complicate communication, and that clear understanding depends on careful thought about how we communicate in a multicultural environment;
