C.A.S.

C.A.S. (Creativity, Action and Service) is an integral part of high school life at AISB. All high school students participate in all three areas during time at AISB. C.A.S. is also a requirement for those students seeking the full IB Diploma.

To facilitate and encourage students to take an active role, and as a sign of how importantly AISB believes in C.A.S., we have built time into the weekly schedule for C.A.S. activities. Each Thursday afternoon students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of teacher and student-led activities including:

Orphanage Aid

Student Newspaper

Fitness

Special Kids

Teacher's Aid

Film and Culture

Speech and Debate

Model United Nations

Forum Theatre

Athletic Council

Ultimate Frisbee

The goal of the C.A.S. program is to help develop students as all-around individuals. Although equal emphasis is placed on all three areas of the program, at its heart C.A.S. is particularly concerned with community service and students learning to give of themselves to others. At AISB students have a multitude of opportunities for service, including building links with such local partners as Habitat for Humanity. We are very proud of our two long-term service projects which are:

Orphanage Aid

Our Orphanage Aid project in Budapest has been running for several years now working with students from two foster homes/orphanages in the city's 2nd and 8th districts. Our students spend time with these children, play games with them and organize special events for them.

Fall Trips

In September all high school students take part in fall trips. The purpose of the fall trips is to help build strong friendship bonds within the grade levels and to acquaint the students with the cultural and historical features of the region they are visiting. Activities typically include biking, hiking, rafting, museum tours and cooperative games. Trips go to various locations in Central Eastern Europe, including out of country destinations:

9th Grade - Hungary,
10th Grade - Poland,
11th Grade - Czech Republic
12th Grade - Slovenia, Romania, Hungary

Student Life Outside of School

Living in Budapest offers students many options of things to do in their free time. There is something for everyone: sports clubs, restaurants, theaters, cinemas, parks, markets, and much more! Many students also take the initiative in activities such as putting on plays, providing service for the community, church activities and scouting.
