Elementary School Student Life

UE HockeyOutside of the classroom, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities. A comprehensive After-School Activities Program is available, with different classes offered each day. Classes range from art to sports and include areas of interest to the students. Some classes run for the entire year, while the other activities change each trimester. After-School Activities classes run from 3:30-4:30 daily, and bus transportation is available.

The Elementary Student Council for grades 3-5 includes one elected representative from each classroom. New representatives are elected each trimester, thus allowing a larger number of students to participate. Student Council officers are elected by the members of the Student Council at their first meeting of the trimester. Student Council meets weekly after school and focuses on improving student life in the Elementary.

International Week PictureThroughout the year we celebrate many special days and festivals. A Fine Arts Festival in the spring is an opportunity for the students to perform for their parents and share their work in all areas of the arts. Students may also have opportunities to participate in classroom and grade level performances throughout the year. International Week, a school-wide activity, provides a taste of cultures from around the world. During this week we focus on International Understanding and learn about our similarities as well as our unique differences.

Each Upper Elementary grade level has an Arts Nights one time during the year, providing an opportunity for students to perform for their parents and share their work in all areas of the arts. Students may also have opportunities to participate in classroom and grade level performances throughout the year.

Fifth Grade students take a Spring Trip, staying overnight, to explore an aspect of Hungarian Culture and to develop bonds that will help them as they make the move into Middle School.

Halloween - 3 WitchesThe Upper Elementary PSA (Parent-School Association) coordinates or supports many enjoyable activities for students and parents. Some of these include an annual pot-luck dinner for teachers and parents, Trunk or Treat at Halloween, and Fun Days in the fall and spring. PSA also helps coordinate volunteers for a variety of Elementary activities.

Developing a well rounded, highly educated, responsible student is a major focus of the Elementary School.
