Early Childhood Program of Studies
We believe children have their own individual pattern of growth, personality and learning style; thus the program we offer suits their developmental readiness for learning.
Pre-K3 Program Beginnig of the Journey AISB is offering a brand new program to meet the needs of 3 year olds in our community. For many children, this is their first experience in a full-day group setting. But not to worry, our qualified, experienced teachers will sensitively guide your child through the transition from home to school (maximum ratio of 12 children with 2 adults). In Pre-K3 classroom, children learn through play in an environment planned to encourage discovery, independence and social interaction. Play involves the use of manipulative materials and multi-sensory experiences, and emphasizes the development of language skills. Our youngest learners can benefit from planned learning activities with a balance of pre-academic skills and social and personal growth in a happy, friendly and supportive atmosphere. We promote positive, warm interactions among adults and children. The 3 year olds will thrive in a stimulating classroom environment with age-appropriate materials. Our new English Language Learners will benefit from an environment that enhances the development of English language skills. Our teachers encourage spontaneous play as it is a natural way for young children to learn to interact with one another and to understand their environment. The program includes art, dramatic play, inquiry into mathematics, play with letters and sounds, books, music, technology, water and sand play and science activities. The afternoon program includes naptime and extended play opportunities, supervised by teaching assistants. Our program also offers flexible pick-up times to accommodate individual child and family needs. If you have a child who will turn 3 years old on or before September 1, 2010, please contact our admissions office at: admissions@nk.aisb.hu Tel: +36 26 556 015
Pre-K4 Growth and Learning The Pre-K4 Program provides a stimulating and creative environment where four-year olds experience a wide range of activities. The program focuses on children learning through play, inquiry and discovery. Children also learn to cooperate with others in order to function effectively in a group beyond the family (maximum 16 children with 2 adults). Social and emotional growth is further developed. Our teachers organize learning centers where children can practice making choices. Pre-reading and writing skills are woven throughout the daily activities. We use pictures, print, books and listening centers. Math-readiness skills are evident throughout the day in routines, basic counting, sorting and simple mathematical language. AISB provides opportunities for children to develop physical control, mobility and awareness of space, both indoors and outdoors. Fine motor control and hand-eye coordination continue to devdelop. Pre-K4 children also have specialist classes in art, music, physical education (including swimming), technology and library.
Kindergarten Pursuing Excellence The Kindergarten Program is a developmentally appropriate program that continues to process of hands-on learning through play, with an emphasis on pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills. We encourage children to become responsible class members, risk-takers and cooperative learners. Our teachers watch over the social and emotional needs of the children, as they learn to work and play together (maximum 16 children with adults). AISB incorporates language development, vocabulary and pre-reading skills into the daily program. Guided and shared reading experiences occur, and pre-writing skills develop through the use of the age appropriate print and books. The math program is inquiry-based. It covers number sense, problem-solving, measurement and involves the use of a variety of manipulatives and games. Science and social study themes are explored. In sum, we actively encourage children to establish positive attitudes towards a healthy, active and safe way of life. Kindergarten children also have specialist classes in art, music, physical education (including swimming), technology, library and Hungarian Culture.
