Mr. Frank Rowland
Principal, Lower Elementary School

The Elementary School of AISB is divided into two divisions, Lower Elementary, consisting of grades Pre-K - 2, and Upper Elementary, which consists of grades 3-5.

The program is a strong American elementary school program with Hungarian Culture studies (Pre-Kindergaten through grade 3) and an "international attitude" permeating throughout. About one-third of our students take ESL (English-As-A-Second Language) when they first arrive. French, Spanish or German language may be studied beginning in the fourth grade.

AISB has two campuses.
The Lower Elementary School or Buda Campus is located at the corner of Kakukk Ut and Tunder Ut (address: 1-3 Kakukk Ut, Budapest 1121) and encompasses Pre-K (4 year olds) to Grade 2 (7 year olds). Grades 3 to 12 are located in a suburb of Budapest at the Nagykovácsi Campus (address Nagykovácsi 2094). Approximately 30 percent of the 352 Elementary students are American, nine percent are Hungarian and the remainder from 48 different nationalities. While most of the teachers come from North America, there are seven nationalities represented in the teaching staff as well.

The Buda Campus houses a 4 year old program through Grade 2 in District 12 in the hills of Buda. Mr. Frank Rowland is the Principal of the Lower Elementary School.

Grades 3 - 5 are housed at the Nagykovácsi Campus which is located in the suburbs of Budapest. Ms. Donna Kelley is the Principal of the Upper Elementary School.

AISB is fully accredited by the Middle States Accrediting Association and the European Council of International School. Lower and Upper Elementary sections each has a well equipped computer lab with the classrooms also having computers in them. Class size is relatively small - 18 per class - and each is carefully planned to give a good representation of our student body. An active After-School-Activities Program is available for Grades 1 - 5 students on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The school prides itself in having a comprehensive Elementary School Program and providing a warm, nurturing and safe environment for multinational children.
