GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

The Guidance Counselor is available for consultations with all students enrolled in the high school for personal, academic, career and college/university counseling both individually or in small groups. The counselor works with students to insure that they are enrolled in the appropriate classes and are obtaining the necessary credits for graduation. The counselor also meets with parents, administrators and teachers regarding academic, and socio/emotional concerns of high school students.

A large part of the counselor’s job is to guide students through the college/university search and application process which begins in junior year. Each year the counselor organizes and holds a College Night for students and parents in order to introduce the concept of college planning. In addition to College Night, the counselor coordinates visits of individual and groups of admissions directors to speak to students and parents about opportunities at their particular colleges and universities.
